Water sports and fishing

Also known as Peter Faust Dam, Lake Proserpine is suitable for many water sports like boating, kayaking, swimming, wakeboarding and even sailing. Visitors are reminded to stay away from the dam wall at least 200 metres and be aware of the submerged trees in some areas.

Don´t forget your rod if you are planning to visit the lake! Fishing is one of the greatest attractions of the dam, due to the stocked fish that remains in the lake like Barramundi, Sooty Grunter and Saratoga. The lake is known for big barramundi, with some captured over 120cm in length, and there are no vessels restrictions although onshore fishing is not permitted.

Camping

Explore the natural beauty of Lake Proserpine with unpowered bush camping sites available at just $10 per adult, $5 per child, or $25 per family per night. Enjoy a range of facilities, including BBQ areas, amenities with disability access, designated fire pits, and pontoons extending into the lake. Additionally, there's a boat ramp and jetty for water activities. The on-site kiosk, open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm and Sundays from 9 am to 4 pm, offers a variety of essentials and treats including ice, wood, snacks, soft drinks, fishing tackle, and more.
